Rumors are that Travis will compete in NASCAR (like the motocross great, Ricky Carmichael) and it seems Travis has people already there for him. Red Bull has been involved for quite a while and I’m sure the key people would like Travis to boost NASCAR to more demographics. Travis has hinted at the possibility but you can never be sure with Travis. But we know one thing, Travis is always looking for competition and NASCAR might just test him enough!

Subaru Bids Farewell to Travis Pastrana
– Driver departs after 5 seasons –

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Nov. 10 2010 /PRNewswire/ — Subaru of America, Inc. today bid farewell to Travis Pastrana as the company’s lead driver. Travis began his relationship Subaru in 2004 from the world of supercross and freestyle motorcross and officially joined Subaru Rally Team USA (SRT USA) in 2006 having run abbreviated development seasons with Subaru in 2004-2005. During his career as an SRT USA driver, Travis piloted his Subaru Impreza WRX STI to 150+ stage wins, 40 podiums, and 22 event victories en route to earning four consecutive Rally America National Championship titles (2006-2009) and becoming the youngest-ever U.S. Rally champion in history. Within the ESPN X Games Rally Car Racing format, Travis went on to win two gold, one silver and one bronze medal with Subaru Rally Team USA.

Tim Mahoney, CMO of Subaru of America said, “Travis brought Rally to a whole new audience through the rally championship and of course through his spectacular appearances at X Games. We wholeheartedly thank him for his outstanding performances with Subaru Rally Team USA and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Subaru recently celebrated breaking its all-time sales record for the brand in the US. The company surpassed its previous record set in 2009 with two months of 2010 remaining and expects to top 250,000 sales for the year.

Fox did sponsor Travis during his amateur years until 2000, when No Fear picked him up for the next three years which may give some insight as to why he chose to wear Fox gear. Close friend and fellow Nitro Circus (Live) member, Jolene Van Vugt is sponsored by Fox also, so she might have had some influence over his decision.

Travis, however, isn’t too keen to show off the Fox head as you may think. During X Games 16, he did wear Fox branded clothing but he had covered all the Fox logos with his current sponsors. Ryan Leyba of ESPN Action Sports caught up with Fox Team Manager, Chris “Beeker” Onstott to see what the deal was and here is what he had to say about Travis’ faux sponsorship: “I don’t know what’s going on, but I like it. Honestly I don’t know … personally I would love to be involved with TP … there is no one bigger in action sports, except for maybe Tony Hawk. It would be awesome for our brand.” So there you have it; Travis is not sponsored by Fox but they’re open to the possibility to work with him again. My only question is, why didn’t he wear Alpine Stars gear?, as he is sponsored by them and already wears their boots!

Waiver or not, when Travis ain't there, the Pastrana compound is closed.

Some good and bad news for us Pastrana fans. The criminals that stole those bikes that were stolen from TP, including one of his trophy bikes (you can read about it here) have been caught and one faces 10 years in prison! Only one of the bikes out of the four that were stolen were found which was a 2008 Suzuki RM450. The other three bikes still haven’t been found but apparently they’re somewhere in the Baltimore area, so keep an eye out if you live nearby.

That’s the good news, the bad news for the rest of is, don’t expect to flip into Travis’ foam pit or check out his shop out while he isn’t there. According to Robert Pastrana, TP’s dad, Travis has beefed up his security and isn’t allowing anyone accessing his property while he is away, which is a good portion of the year unfortunately.

On a final note, Robert also said that one of the stolen bikes was a trophy bike (like his 125cc Motocross Championship bike or the Double Backflip bike) which he planned to display inside (like both bikes mentioned) however that one is still missing. So keep an eye out for a 2008 Suzuki RM250, a 2004 Suzuki RM250 and a 1995 Honda CR500, all decked out in typical Pastrana/199 decals and equipment. The trophy bike was probably the ’04 250 since Travis didn’t really race in 2008.

Travis racing the ROC in 2007

Tanner Foust was Travis’ replacement last year and was his first year at the event. The ROC is where champions from a variety of motor sports gather to see who can become the champion of champions. The event has different types of cars for the tight stadium course. The year it is scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of November in Beijing.

Travis' New Website

On first impressions you might think it’s on of those hard-to-use flash sites but it’s quite entertaining to mess up TP’s face. It uses a slide system (I personally have only seen one other website with this design) and you form a new web page so to speak by matching up the three parts of a new image of Travis’ face. It also has some awesome photos, which are super high quality. There is also a news feed with a couple of articles already however there are one problem with the site, the RSS Feed and News are connected.

So why come here to travispastrana.net? Well I’ll be updating this website with new info as much as I can, uploading videos and adding new images for you and have something tp.com does not, a Forum. So sign-up and talk away!
